A Decent Week
After last weekends cup disappointment Allotment got on with the start of their league season with two games in four days. Thursday night saw the visit of Prudhoe Town and Allotment started the way they hope to continue with a comfortable 4-0 win , with the Prudhoe keeper pulling off some good saves . Goals for Gabby McConnel (2) , Robson and Bell secured the points with Jess Bucas in the allotment goal being required to pull off one save at her near post in the second half.
Sunday bought the reverse fixture of our cup tie with a Blyth team full of confidence after their start this season so far. With only 13 available due to the GNR and other events Allotment had to reshuffle a bit.
Allotment started the game really well and if it wasnt for the excellent Blyth keeper could have been three up in the first ten minutes. However just to make life hard for ourselves we gifted Blyth the lead as Lucy Newton allowed a weak shot to go under her foot and into the net. Allotment however picked up where they left off and scored three goals before half time through Elise Bell , Gabby McConnel and an own goal . The second half got off to a flyer for Allotment as Hollie webb scored from a corner and then Gabby McConnel broke through to score her second and Allotments fifth . Allotment then had to replace two injured players with Goalkeeeper Lucy Newton hurting her knee making a save and left back Anna Mullen injuring her back in a tackle. Blyth pulled a goal back with a sweet long range strike but Allotment were able to see the game out and pick up all three points.
Gabby McConnel was player of the match and her is her second goal .
